EASY PEASY COMFORT FOOD

It’s been a while since I last updated here and since some people have been asking for my Aglio Olio spaghetti and Murtabak Megi recipes, here they are:

Seafood Aglio Olio Spaghetti

(Picture googled!)

Aglio Olio is my staple lazy food, because it is so easy to make yet so delicious. Aglio is garlic and Olio is oil and as such, I’m sure you can guess that those 2 are the main ingredients for this recipe. Lotsa garlic and lotsa olive oil (kalau nak extra sedap, use Extra Virgin Olive Oil)

Spaghetti
Garlic cloves – crushed
Extra virgin olive oil
Cili kering – ricik halus (or you can use chili flakes)
Black pepper coarse
Seafoods (clam, prawn, squid)
Cherry tomato and parsley
Salt

1. Masak spaghetti with some salt sampai al dente.
2. Tumis garlic using olive oil
3. Add in the seafood
4. Add in tossed spaghetti
5. Pour lotsa olive oil
6. Add in cherry tomato and garnish with parsley
7. Season with salt and black pepper

------------------------------------

Murtabak Megi

Another easy peasy recipe. 2 main ingredients are megi (d’oh) and eggs. I tweeted that the person who invented this recipe deserves a standing ovation.

2 packs of megi (preferably perasa kari)
3 eggs
1 bawang besar – diced
3 garlic cloves – minced
4 cili padi (more if you want pedas)
Minced meat or chopped sausages or diced burger

1. Masak megi without the perencah sampai al dente. Toss.
2. Tumis bawang besar & garlic & cili padi
3. Add in the meat – cook sampai masak

4. In a different bowl, pukul telur with perencah
5. Add in the bahan-bahan tumis, meat & megi
6. Gaul rata all of the above

7. Panaskan oil in a pan
8. Goreng macam goreng telur dadar and done!

UDANG LOVERS

We are udang lovers, my Husband and I. Me with my sinus problem and all, tapi masih suka udang. Heh. But yeah, setiap kali pulang ke Banting, mesti puas makan udang. And my father almost always bekalkan udang to bring home to JB. This time, Udang Harimau 1 1/2 kilo. With udang this big, selalunya I prefer to just fry them. Sometimes goreng garam-kunyit saja. Sometimes variasikan dengan goreng with garlic, sometimes bakar or like today, goreng with garlic and pepper and red chilli macam ini. Yummy goodness!

MAKE YOUR OWN CHEEZY WEDGES

1. Peel off kulit kentang.
2. Rebus kentang beberapa minit bersama kiub ayam.
3. Potong nipis.
4. Deep fry the kentang.
5. Selepas keemasan, goreng kering bersama keju.

ONE CLOUDY SUNDAY

Yesterday the Husband made Beef Teppanyaki
for lunch and it was delicious!

With some kicap masin, sos perasa, black pepper, salt and oregano, you can make your own Teppanyaki.

Air kelapa yang lazat dan menenangkan.

STEAMBOAT, ANYONE?

One lazy Monday night.

MAMMA MIA!!!

Minggu lepas, saya ada beli kepingan-kepingan lasagna. Terasa ingin mencuba membuatnya sebab ramai sangat yang kata senang. I asked Ayin to find me resipi yang mudah; she gave me a few links, tapi saya rasa resipi dari blog Puan Zakiah adalah yang paling tidak terlalu mencabar. So on Saturday, sempena menyambut kedatangan adik saya, I made lasagna! MasyaAllah, mudahnya rupanya!

Please go here for the recipe. I tweaked the recipe here and there to accommodate the ingredients I had; seperti:
(a) unlike resipi itu yang gunakan white sauce kerana kehabisan cheese, saya gunakan mozzarella cheese dan cheddar cheese;
(b) beef stock saya tukar dengan chicken stock (kiub ayam yang saya cairkan dalam 3 sudu besar air panas);
(c) instead of basil and oregano, saya gunakan oregano dan Cajun;
(d) saya gunakan cili merah (mayang halus) dan bukan green peppers;
Ngeee.

Jika anda penggemar lasagna, tolonglah cuba.
Ia mudah dan masyaAllah, lazatnya!

IT REALLY IS THAT EASY!

Guna roti biasa saja and trust me, they taste as good as real pizza!

It's PIZZA ROTI, y'all!

You can see the step-by-step process here,
complete with pictures and all.
Atau secara ringkasnya, beginilah resipinya
(thanks to Zaza, dengan sedikit ubahsuai)

1st, toast the roti.

2nd, prepare the sauce. This, I believe is the crucial part of the pizza. Goreng minced meat with spaghetti sauce and some tomato sauce. Lazatkan ia with some Oregano herb and Black Pepper coarse and sedikit garam.

3rd, spread the sauce on the toasted bread. Top it with your favorite pizza topping. I used what was available at home tonight, i.e. chicken sausage and green capsicum. I wished we had some pineapple, mesti lagi sedap jika ada.

4th, this is another crucial part, the cheese! I used some Mozarella cheese and some Cheddar as well.

5th, bakar dalam oven at 180 darjah celcius for 10-15 minutes.

Oh my God, trust me, it's that easy and that good too!

REAL GIRLS EAT MEAT
(err, as Jessica Simpsons put it)

Lamb Steak for dinner, anyone?
Hubby made us super delicious dinner yesterday:

Medium-well, just perfect! Like Asmidar said,
"Saya tak suka yang well done."

Oh, and we are out of veggies stock,
so we made do with some apples. Heh.

Of course no red meat dinner would be complete without red wine.

Not! Astaghfirullah! It's just Ribena lah people! Heh.

The animal goodness in its raw form:

I believe Hubby marinated the steak with the following items:

Soy sauce
Seasoning sauce
Cajun seasoning
Black pepper coarse
Generous amount of honey
A dash of salt

Seriously one of the best steaks ever, Hubby! Ngeee.

AIR DRIED?

People who know me know that I really, really like Mee Kuning.
Tapi lately ni terlalu banyak penemuan Asid Borik/E-Coli dalam
Mi Kuning yang membuatkan saya sedikit was-was tentangnya.

So for quite sometime now, we've been switching to
Air-Dried Noodles or Mi Kering.

Here's our breakfast today:
Mi Kering Goreng with Sotong

(Perlu tulis goreng with sotong sebab itu the only lauk,
no other binatang ataupun sayuran. Heh)

Resipi seperti biasalah. Hentam sajalah. Tapi sebab dah selalu buat
mee/meehoon/makaroni/kuey teow goreng,
memang senang sajalah menghentam.

Simple sangatlah, rasa segan nak tulis. Takpelah tulis sajalah.

Cili kisar (atau cili boh) + Air asam jawa + sos cili + sos tomato + kicap cair (masin) + kicap lemak manis + kiub ayam + air + gula + garam + lauk-pauk + pecahkan telur.

No preservatives, no cholestrol, jadi sihatlah. Heh.

BACK STABBER

Literally. Hehe.

Kisarkan bersama cili kering + cili merah + bawang merah + air asam jawa + serbuk kunyit (kalau rajin, tumbuklah)

Kalau mahu, gorengkan bahan sambal (jangan lupa sedapkan dengan garam + gula). Jika tak mahu gorengpun boleh.

Kemudian sumbat dalam ikan yang telah digaram-kunyit.
Lalu gorenglah ikan. Senang sangat kan? Silalah.

CHILLI CRAB

We love love love chilli crab and I think
here's the best and easiest way to prepare it:

1. Kisar bersama beberapa tangkai cili kering,
bawang merah dan bawang putih
.

2. Tumis bahan kisar.

3. Apabila pecah minyak, masukkan 1 s/b gula
dan sedikit air asam jawa.

4. Masukkan sos tomato dan sos cili secukup rasa.

5. Tunggu mendidih, kemudian pecahkan sebiji telur dan gaul rata.

Alahai sungguh mudahnya!

MAKARONI GAYA MELAYU

My lidah is so Melayu I can't stand the original tomato-ey recipe of macaroni. My gaya of makaroni is goreng pedas-pedas, baru kow.

(Resipi untuk sepeket/500 g of makaroni)

Kisar:
10-15 tangkai cili kering
2 biji bawang besar
5 ulas bawang putih
2 s/b udang kering atau serbuk pati ikan

Cara-cara:

1. Rebus makaroni hingga lembut, toskan dan gaul dgn 1 s/t minyak

2. Tumis bahan2 kisar hingga garing dan terbit minyak.

3. Masukkan sos tomato/tomato puree, sos tiram, kicap manis,
kicap cair dan sedikit garam dan gula
.

8. Perlahankan api, gaul makaroni hingga bergaul mesra dgn bahan-bahan lain. Biar sekejap lalu siaplah ia.

SINGGAH SAHUR

It's been a while since I last updated this foodie blog of mine. The Husband and I have tried a few good Ramadhan buffets but I just didn't have the time to transfer the pictures from his phone, so here goes, what we had for sahur today.

Today terlebih rajin, since dah start cuti hance didn't have to wake up for work kan. Simple dishes sajalah tapinya.

The main dish was Bubur Ayam.
With telur masin tentunya.

Then I made some Kupang Goreng. The Husband loves this recipe, mainly because he claimed he invented it. Yeah right.

Bawang merah, bawang putih, cili padi - cincang halus.
Sungguh sedap; pedas dan masin, my kind of dish.

And there was also some Sotong Goreng Tepung.

Bancuh sotong bersama black pepper, tepung jagung
dan sedikit garam lalu gorengkan.

PANCAKE FOR BREAKFAST!

Well, it was a very cloudy, rainy morning today;
it felt in need of some cheering up :D

THE BASIC PANCAKE RECIPE:

2 cups of flour
1 1/2 of t/s baking soda
1 t/s of tartar cream
2 t/s of melted butter
1 1/2 of cups fresh milk
1 egg (slightly beaten)

1. Campurkan 1st 3 ingredients. Ayak kalau rajin.
2. Gaulkan dengan butter hingga jadi seperti adunan roti halus2.
3. Make a whole di tengah2 adunan.
5. Gaulkan telur and milk bersama adunan.
6. In a non-stick pan, goreng pancake.
7. You'll know when to alihkan to the other side;
i.e. bila buih-buih pecah. Jangan sebelum! Nanti tidak cantik.

MAKE YOUR OWN SYRUP!

2 t/s of margerine
1 cup of brown sugar
5 t/s of white sugar
1/2 of cup water
1 t/s of vanilla extract
2 t/s of cornstarch (to thicken the syrup)

1. Panaskan margerine.
2. Melt together brown sugar, white sugar, water.
3. Dash in some vanilla extract.
5. Gaul sehingga mesra dan likat.
6. There you have it, your very own homemade Brown Syrup
.

FRYING NEMO

The Husband made this for breakfast today:

Thank you, Hubby, for the delicious dory!

THE MAMAK EXPERIENCE

We are out of breakfast stuffs today. And by breakfast stuffs
I mean roti, telur, instant soup, cereal dan sepertinya.

So I fried some roti canai segera and made kari ikan this morning.
To complete the 'mamak experience', mesti ada milo ais. Hehe.

Suami saya terkejut dengan kepantasan saya menyediakan Kari Ikan.
Frankly, I think curry is one of the simplest dishes to make.
No fuss lah, just tumis dan reneh.

You can go
here for my curry recipe (di situ, kari ayam. Lebih kurang sahaja, but make sure to use serbuk kari ikan for kari ikan dan serbuk kari ayam/daging for kari ayam. Trust me, rasanya akan berbeza)

Adoilah kenyangnya perut.
Gendang gendut tali kecapi.

SIMPLE PICKLE

My dear friend Dod brought us a bunch of kedondong (or amra, as the Utara people call it) from Muar. With kedondong, the only way to enjoy it is to have it pickled.

Pickled Kedondong, now cooling in the freeze!

WHAT'S IKAN MERAH IN ENGLISH?

One of my favourite lauk is also the simplest lauk to cook.

It's my favourite because:
(a) It's convenient when you're hungry and in need of a fast food;
(b) It reminds me of my mom, kerana dia juga menyukainya;
(c) It tastes really good.

It's Ikan Goreng Asam, y'all!

I used Ikan Merah here but you can substitute with Ikan Nyok Nyok
or any ikan yang seakan perasaan dan tekstur ikan merah.

It's really easy, you can make this under 5 minutes.

1. Garam-kunyit-kan ikan dan goreng.
2. Tumis bawang merah, bawang putih, cili padi, halia.
3. Add in air asam jawa (asam jawa is the key here, it gives the tangy goodness which complement ikan yang sungguh lemak itu).
4. Sedikit garam dan serbuk lada putih.
5. Tuangkan ke atas ikan yang telah digoreng.

That was what I had for lunch today, with ANTM on the TV. Ngeee.

AFC!

AM Fried Chicken that is!

Teehee. The Husband went for his weekly badminton game last night,
so naturally saya tiada mood mahu masak untuk diri sendiri.

So I sliced some isi ayam, gaulkan dengan garam,
black pepper powder
dan tepung jagung
lalu goreng,
lalu dimakan dengan sos cili dan mayonis. Yum yum!

Pesanan: Jangan buat selalu. Sangat fattening, okay! :D

DINNER TIME!

Saya selalu tertanya-tanya bagaimanakah perasaan
Asparagus kerana ia kelihatan sungguh enak!

Makanya saya telah membeli seikat Baby Asparagus and
experimented with a recipe I found somewhere online.
Most recipes use Sos Tiram but I don't have it so I used
the only recipe I found yang tidak memerlukan Sos Tiram
and it turned out good! I really like the sweetness of Asparagus
and this recipe cukup-cukup tanpa overpowering taste.

So here's my Asparagus dan Lobak Goreng!

THE RECIPE:

1. Bersihkan asparagus. Buangkan bahagian kasar.

2. Goreng asparagus sampai sedikit layu.

3. Tumis chopped bawang putih.

4. Tuangkan stok ayam dan sedikit air dan garam dan serbuk lada hitam.

5. Masukkan asparagus, lobak dan cili merah.

Kami juga had Ikan Keli Bakar for dinner cicah air asam.
Terlupa mahu ketik foto Ikan Keli but here's my Air Asam.

THE RECIPE:

Bawang merah
Cili merah
Cili padi
Air asam jawa
Gula dan garam
Perahan limau nipis
Sedikit belacan

NOTA:
Lebih sedap jika ada tomato.

Gaulkan saja dan cicahlah, sedap!
